Mathematics allowed me to develop skills such as quantitative reasoning, analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving and the ability to teach the knowledge I have acquired to other people effectively. I taught Mathematics at my former school, to my friends and younger siblings.

I have always had a natural ability in maths from my earliest school days. My multiple times-table skills were unrivalled as I beat my classmates in two-class multiple time tables battles. I ended matric with 83%.

I love maths. I did core maths and had AP maths as an extra subject. I also had maths in my first year of university. It gets a bad rep for being difficult, but I believe sometimes it just needs to be explained in a different way, and once you understand you’ll be able to work out any question.

I did first-year level Mathematics auxiliary which mainly focuses on Algebra and Calculus. Algebra is an important concept to grasp in grade 10 Mathematics because it stays with you until matric.

I am a final-year PhD candidate in Physical Oceanography at the University of Cape Town. My thesis includes using maths and physics to understand and predict the link between storms and Antarctic sea ice. My goal is to help build the student's confidence and understanding in maths and/or physics.
